The Route du Goût 2017

Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer will take part in the 3rd instalment of this major Organic Festival

A spotlight on organic

The latest instalment of the Route du Goût will take place on 12 to 15 October 2017. Founded by Paolo Sari, chef at the Monte-Carlo Beach and founding member of the association Bio Chef Global Spirit, the Organic Festival aims at raising widespread awareness about preserving the environment and the natural wealth of our region. An organic market on Quai Antoine 1er, demonstrations on healthy cuisine, a children’s tennis competition at the Monte-Carlo Country Club, educational events on renewable energy, an ecological invention contest, and tips on what to do to help save our planet are just a few examples of what’s in store and sure to delight young and old alike during the 4-day event.

Chefs from the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer and the region are getting involved in the event

From Monday, 9 October to Sunday, 15 October, the restaurants at Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer will be participating in La Route du Goût 2017 and offering menus full of seasonal, locally farmed, organic products. The equivalent of 10% of the price of the menu will be donated to the Route du Goût association.

On Friday, 13 October, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo’s central wine cellar will be opening its doors for organic wine tastings at 9:30, 11:00 and 12:30. It will be a unique opportunity to visit the wine cellar and taste Grands Crus Château La Mascaronne.

Last but not least, the high point of the event: two organic gala dinners.

On Friday, 13 October, 10 children ages 8 to 12 will help 10 Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer chefs prepare the gala dinner. From 19:30, each chef/child pair will present their creations on the stalls of the “Marché des Saveurs” Flavour Market.

Saturday, 14 October will feature a very special event. In partnership with the Prince Albert II Foundation and inspired by its values, the Route du Goût will celebrate the “Chefs Love the Planet” event, whereby 8 Michelin-starred chefs will join 8 different farmers to prepare a unique meal, the concerted effort of 16 Michelin-starred hands.

A humanitarian project

The 2016 instalment of the Route du Goût funded the construction of an organic hotel school in Madagascar, in partnership with the Ecole de Félix Foundation.

In 2017, the organisation’s goal is to help rebuild and boost the food and beverage, hotel, and educational industries in the regions of Italy that were devastated by the 2016 earthquake. At the same time, the organisation will provide occasional training for students at the organic hotel school and is already planning to build a second building for the organic hotel school of Madagascar.
